Mediation & Conflict Coaching

The Mediation and Conflict Coaching track is designed for practitioners who wish to develop knowledge and skills related to two forms of alternative resolution. Mediation involves skilled support of a third-party to help individuals in conflict to explore the conflict and aim for mutually created solutions. Conflict Coaching is the practice of helping individuals with reflection and discovery to empower them with skills to address conflict. This track may be appropriate for professionals at all levels of student conduct and adjacent work.

As a result of participating in the Mediation and Conflict Coaching track, participants will (including but not be limited to):

  • Understand the philosophical foundations of mediation and coaching
  • Practice facilitating dialogue
  • Learn conflict resolution theories and skills as applicable to student clients
  • Discuss how to codify alternative resolution practices as part of student conduct structures
  • Learn how to assess mediation and conflict coaching programs and students’ learning
