Abstract

This mini-track provides foundational training in mediation, equipping participants with practical tools to facilitate constructive conversations between individuals or groups experiencing conflict. Participants will examine the dynamics of conflict, understand where mediation fits within the broader continuum of conflict resolution approaches, and learn the core stages of a mediation process.The session will also highlight pathways for continued learning and additional resources for developing mediation skills. This mini-track is particularly relevant for professionals and graduate students in student conduct, residence life, and dean of students offices who are seeking effective, practical strategies for addressing interpersonal and organizational conflict in higher education settings.
