Getting Involved with the Gehring Academy

ASCA’s Donald D. Gehring Academy for Student Conduct Administration is an intensive program designed for participants to learn through a competency-based model. The academy consists of multiple tracks designed for specific training needs. There are several ways to get involved with the planning and facilitation of the tracks of the Gehring Academy.

Each year, nearly two dozen student conduct higher education professionals are selected for volunteer roles as Gehring Academy track coordinators, faculty, and faculty fellows. All ASCA members are welcome to apply for these involvement opportunities. Those selected for Gehring leadership roles receive an honorarium in addition to travel, room, and board during the Academy.

Track Coordinators

The ASCA Donald D. Gehring Academy for Student Conduct Administration is an intensive program designed for participants to learn through a competency-based model. The academy consists of multiple tracks designed for specific training needs. There are several ways to get involved with the planning and facilitation of the tracks of the Gehring Academy.

Track Coordinators have responsibility for the oversight of a specific track or session within the Gehring Academy and work in collaboration with designated faculty members to create and present the content for the track. They will be required to travel to the Gehring Academy in Detroit, MI, July 14-18, 2024.

Faculty Fellows

The ASCA Gehring Academy Faculty Fellowship offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into the Gehring Academy and faculty’s unique role. The goal of the Faculty Fellow program is to help prepare members to potentially serve as Gehring Academy facilitators in the future through an introduction to the mentorship of colleagues and facilitation of formal presentations.

Mini-Track Facilitators

Similar to the role of faculty, mini-track facilitators plan and facilitate a one-day topical session for attendees that offers an engaging opportunity to interact with content and colleagues. This will be held virtually on July 21, 2024. Mini-track facilitators receive an honorarium.
