Abstract

Hazing continues to challenge colleges and universities across athletics, fraternity and sorority life, and other student organizations. As national expectations evolve (including new developments such as the Stop Campus Hazing Act), student conduct professionals play a critical role in both responding to incidents and advancing prevention. This one-day virtual mini-track examines current hazing trends, warning signs within student communities, and the group dynamics that allow hazing to persist. Participants will explore how policy frameworks, institutional data, and cross-campus partnerships can strengthen prevention efforts and leave with practical strategies to promote accountability and safer campus communities.

Learning Outcomes

  • Describe current trends and risk factors associated with hazing in higher education.
  • Develop strategies to integrate hazing prevention into student conduct practice through data, education, and campus partnerships.
