Threat Assessment and CARE Management
The Threat Assessment and CARE Management track is designed for practitioners who want to build their knowledge and skills in threat assessment principles as well as developing or enhancing CARE management plans on campus. This track is appropriate for professionals who are members of, work with, or have an interest in threat assessment teams or who work in the field of case management on campus.

As a result of participating in the Threat Assessment and CARE Management track, participants will (including but not be limited to):

  • Explain the purpose, principles, and trends of campus threat assessment and CARE management.
  • Identify concerning behaviors, communications, and patterns that may indicate risk to self or others.
  • Apply structured threat assessment models (e.g., behavioral intervention teams, case management frameworks) to evaluate risk.
  • Recognize legal, ethical, and policy considerations relevant to threat assessment and CARE management.
  • Explore practices for evaluating threat assessment and CARE Management work.
  • Develop philosophical and practical tools to support prevention, intervention, and supportive resources for students.
